"Jump Start for Reading"
NATIONAL JUMP START FOR READING DAY
Thursday, October 8 was the National Jump Start for Reading Day. It was featured on the Today Show with Matt Lauer and Alabama Live. Luverne was part of that Celebration. Students from the Future Teachers of America (sponsored by Rachel Watts) assisted in reading to 18 classes or a total of 346 students in grades K-4, K-5, 1, 2, and 3. The book featured this year was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Students were also treated to one of the snacks eaten by the caterpillar. A special thank you to the student readers Jalecia Willis, Moriah McDougald, Shanequia Harrell, Kelsy Davis, Ryan McGhee, Zach Griffin, Aspen Stough, Courtney Wolfe, Shaye Shepherd, and Lindsey White.
